Bristol Metropolitan Orchestra welcomes two brilliant and equally-matched soloists, Charis and Kirsten Jenson, twin sisters who were educated in Bristol, for a performance of Brahms’ intricately beautiful Double Concerto. Have a look at our Gallery for images of Charis and Kirsten.  Schumann’s second symphony was written at a time when the composer was suffering from depression and a tingling in the ears.  Yet, it is an uplifting, lyrical work that triumphs over pessimism.  The concert opens with Beethoven’s fiery and expressive Egmont Overture, similar in style to his fifth symphony.  This is nineteenth century German classical music at its best.  Pre-Concert Talk 6:30 – 7:00 PM.  There will be a talk about the works being performed given by Jonathan James in the Auditorium. Entry free to ticket-holders.
